I love how every wedding this year has been so wonderfully different and unique, each with its personality and style all its own. Danie and Tom’s beautiful Hunt Club wedding was no exception. If I had to describe the wedding in two words, I would call it “simple elegance”. I loved the girls’ breathtaking vintage lace dresses and their simple yet stuffing florals… not to mention how the setting sun bathed the outdoor ceremony and cocktails in an ethereal glow. The mood of the day was so cheery and relaxed, and it was an absolute pleasure to photograph. Here are some favourites from this beautiful wedding.

This was such a happy day. Kristi was glowing, relaxed and so, so happy. I don’t think she stopped smiling once during the entire day, and we all couldn’t help but smile with her. Everything was perfect – from Grant’s sweet, emotional reaction to Kristi entering the church, to the hilarious bridal party, the gorgeous reception location, the elegant details and to top it all off – the sun setting over a vineyard. Like I said, perfect. Kristi and Grant, it was such a huge honour and pleasure to photograph your day. Hope you love your photos! -xo

I know the blog has been a little quiet as of late – it’s certainly not for lack of activity around here, but rather quite the opposite! Both my shooting calendar and editing queue are full (for this I am so, so thankful!) and I am working extra hard to make sure everyone gets their photos as quickly as possible in this very busy photography season! This sweet family session took place last month and was such a pleasure to photograph. The beautiful Thompson family is such a fun-loving bunch, and we had a blast exploring this wild field and being silly together. Here’s a peek at their session! -xo
Much like my maman’s hearty soup is my comfort food, Fall is my comfort season. And even though we’re not quite there yet, September – to me – is the official start of Fall and all of the beautiful things it brings. I wanted to capture some of my favourite Fall “comfort items” with this shoot – a cozy sweater, moccasins, a cherished book, delicious coffee in a favourite mug, a worn and wonderful quilt. I called on Laura, my beautiful friend and fabulous second shooter, to help me with this month’s theme (thanks Laura!). Don’t forget to click the link at the end of this post and follow the blog circle to see how the other talented ladies in this project interpreted September’s theme! -xo

I remember first meeting Amanda and Connor in a Starbucks and thinking to myself how adorable they were together. I’m so glad they gave me the honour of capturing their special backyard wedding, which was actually a vow renewal to celebrate their union that took place a year earlier. Their precious daughter Rosaleigh was as sweet as can be and everyone was so full of life, love and joy. With the exception of a freak 20 minute downpour once we were all safely seated in the reception tent (phew!), the weather held out for us and we got to go exploring around Port Stanley for some amazing couple and bridal party portraits. After one of the most amazing dance parties I have ever documented (for real, made me want to get my Macarena on!) we sealed the night with a spectacular lantern ceremony in the pitch black night. Here is a look at their very, very special day. Amanda and Connor, hope you love your photos as much as I do! -xo

I often find myself explaining to friends and clients the difference between traditional posed studio newborn work (if you’re looking for this, I have some wonderful photographers to refer you to!) and my approach, which is commonly referred to as “lifestyle newborn photography”. While I still do capture baby on his/her own, I don’t pose baby in any unnatural positions, and simply capture his/her delicious sleepy baby goodness with a more natural, organic approach. Much of the session aims to capture mom, dad and siblings at home with baby, going through the daily routines of feeding, changing, rocking and – the most important – snuggling. It’s these natural moments, sweet kisses, tender strokes and sweet sibling interactions that I want to capture for you, so that when you look back, you not only have beautiful portraits of your sweet bundle alone, but you have the illustrations to accompany the story of those first few weeks at home with baby. This is how I approach newborn photography, and sweet baby Kessel’s session was no exception. What a beautiful, sweet little man. And his vibrant and affectionate big sister was equally a pleasure to photograph. I just loved capturing some moments for this lovely family. Here is a peek at our session! -xo
