London Ontario Family Photographer | 2013 Portrait/Family Favourites

This is the third and final 2013 Favourites post. You can see my 2013 Wedding Favourites here and my 2013 Couple/Engagement Favourites here. I have not included anything from my 2013 mini sessions in this post, as I've already grouped my favourites from those in recap posts after each round of minis. In this post you will find favourites from all portrait sessions (Maternity, Family, Newborn, Child, Individual Portrait) as well as a handful of favourites from some of my Project Ten projects. I have tried to include at least 1 favourite from each full session I have photographed, so hopefully everyone who has worked with me this year will see a little snippet of their session represented. Can I just say, narrowing these down was HARD! In the end, after picking an initial favourite from every session, I went with my heart and selected images that most represent my style and vision - capturing light, emotion, and keeping it simple.  Enjoy! :)

( Psst... That first photo is from a self portrait project from January 2013, the only real self portrait I've ever done.)

London Ontario Family Photographer | The Smith Family

Happy Christmas Eve, everyone.  I wanted to sneak in one more blog post before I officially sign off for Christmas (I've been "off" shooting for a couple of weeks now, and will be taking an office break for the next few days as well). I met the lovely Smith clan for the first time this past Fall and had such a great time photographing their beautiful, fun-loving family. Here are some favourites!

Lifestyle Family Photographer in London Ontario | Darcy, Jessie and Max

This session was quite the roller coaster ride! This sweet, super fun family is no stranger to my lens, and I always look forward to my session with them.  We started off on a chilly October morning in Victoria Park with high hopes for a fun, beautiful session in the heart of downtown. Except that after 5 minutes, sweet little Max face planted and scraped his face (three cheers for Photoshop!). The little man was understandable shaken up, and between his injuries and the cold, it just wasn't happening. I must've said "It's ok, no worries, we'll just go with it" about a thousand times. :) We relocated to their favourite Timmies for a snack, and then when this location proved challenging due to the limited space, we decided to simply head back to their home and hope for the best. Of course, as soon as Max was home, he was totally comfortable, happy and excited to show me all of his stuff. This is why I love love love in-home lifestyle sessions, especially with little ones. They are in their element and they are content. Everyone can just relax and play. And I just watch the simple, everyday candid magic unfold and snap away. I just adore the shots we got of them just being them, with so many awesome candid moments and real, big smiles that just can't be beat. :)

London Ontario Lifestyle Newborn Photography | The Young Family

It's no secret that I love having my dear friends Natalie and Ron Young (of Mint Photography) in front of my lens. They've trusted me with so many special moments, and I was so honoured to be able to snap a few photos of them with their newborn twin boys in the hospital as well as some lifestyle photos in their lovely home (just down the street from mine, bonus!). Natalie took care of documenting the twins' fabulous DIY nursery, and the boys had some posed photos done by our lovely friend Cynthia Bendle, so we really focused on capturing family interactions with this session. Natalie, Ron, Skyler, Bryson, and of course Marley... I love you guys so much and am so happy to call you friends. You guys are rockstar parents and those sweet boys of yours are so incredibly blessed.

London Ontario Wedding Photographer | Caitlin and Graeme's Engagement Session

This session was almost cancelled due to weather. The forecast was promising rain and the clouds looked threatening. But instead of rain, we got soft, beautiful fog that added a touch of romance to Caitlin and Graeme's amazing session. Everything about this shoot was so.much.fun. Running through fields, wheel barrow rides, giant woodpiles, jumping in mud puddles barefoot, I mean - it just doesn't get much better than that! I had such a blast photographing such an adorable couple against such a breathtaking rustic Fall backdrop, and I have a ton of favourites to share on the ol' blog this evening! Enjoy. :)
