I absolutely loved Emily and Tommy’s downtown Stratford engagement session. From the buildings full of character, to Shakespeare Gardens, to the Avon River at sunset, this shoot was exploding with beautiful settings for E & T to be cute in. There were endless fun candid moments to capture, because these two are next level adorable together. Here are some favourites!
Danny and Christina had their woodsy engagement session in the early Spring, when buds were just starting to form into leaves, and everything was slowly going from brown to green. I loved meeting Alex and Laura for their downtown Winter engagement session. We checked out some of my favourite downtown photo locations and headed by the water to catch those last rays of warm golden hour light. They brought their adorable pup along with them, which is always a big BONUS in my books! I often get asked if couples and families can bring furry family members along for their session, and the answer is always YES! I adore animals and am a big dog person, so by all means, bring your pet along with you! :) Here are a few favourites from their downtown London engagement session. (PS: It was COLD! I was so hoping for snow for Jane and Matt’s family farm engagement session, and Mother Nature definitely delivered. The flurries added so much charm to this shoot, and I absolutely love the extra snowy shots. Their shoot was featured in Hitched Magazine’s Winter 2019 issue, and I am so happy to be sharing it on the blog today.
When Sarah and Jacob requested Storybook Gardens for their engagement session, I was intrigued. I’d been there with my kiddos, but never to shoot. The park had special significance to Sarah and Jacob, and I was excited to see it empty (because it’s usually an anxiety-inducing mix of stressed out parents and hundreds of kids on a collective sugar high, haha). We had a blast exploring, and I loved how playful and fun this session ended up being. Here are some favourites!

I am so happy to be revisiting Bri and Mike’s Medway Creek engagement session. I loved working with this amazing couple for their engagement and wedding photos. They are such a sweet pair, always smiling and so affectionate, which makes my job so easy. They actually just welcomed a sweet baby boy, so I’m also using this post to send a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to both of them on this new adventure. While I’m not quite up to blogging my 2018 sessions, I’m so thrilled to be sharing my best of 2018 this week - a collection of favourite images from the past year. Today I’m pulling from my 2018 engagement sessions, which spanned every season and so many different locations. I always have such a terrible time culling favourites, because I have a special attachment to each couple, each session, each location. But I based these selections on things like emotion, light, composition, and the feeling that each image elicits in me as a photographer. More than anything, going through these photos made me so thankful for the opportunity to work with so many amazing people, and so excited for all of the upcoming weddings I get to document!
I’ve been offering one-on-one mentoring sessions for other photographers on the down-lo for a little while. It’s not something I heavily advertise, but after being approached by several photographers regarding mentoring, I developed a few mentoring packages for those who are interested. I met my friend Aimee last year when she booked a mentoring session that included a shooting component as well as a follow up coffee date to go over any questions. We had amazing models and a gorgeous sunny evening that allowed us to focus on golden hour shooting and how to navigate the changing light from bright, hazy rays to that soft, warm glow right before sunset. We also chatted about posing and directing clients, how I like to draw out natural emotion and interactions from couples while shooting, and compared settings and framing as we worked. We even got to sneak in a sunset silhouette shot before heading out to chat about all of her questions - everything from my editing process, to how I structure pricing and mini sessions, to how I navigate difficult client situations and run my social media. Nothing was off limits. If there’s something I can share from my 9 year photography career that can help someone else, I’m an open book. :) I absolutely love chatting and connecting with other photographers, and Aimee has become a friend whose evolving style and growing business I have LOVED witnessing over the past 18 months or so.
